2021 Chenin Blanc, Henry Ranch, Old Vine, Napa Valley

TBD Wines

Fermentation Conditions:  No malolactic was performed so the wine retains its natural bright acidity. Aged on its lees with light stirring for 10 months until bottling.

This was a great find, over 60-year-old Chenin Blanc vines planted in Pope Valley! Chenin Blanc in Napa used to be widely planted several decades ago but a miniscule 14 acres remain. We hand harvested and whole cluster pressed the juice into a small 60-gallon sandstone vessel where natural fermentation occurred in cool cellar temperatures.

Light straw color offering honey, jasmine, lychee fruit and vanilla aromas. Flavors toward tropical lychee fruit, orange blossom and melon counterbalanced with gooseberry and orange zest.  Creamy texture yet mouthwatering briney finish offers a nice balance of acid and fruit in this Chenin Blanc.
